Customer Service Representative (part-time)

Job Description

A pleasant and helpful manner while providing assistance to passengers, staff, and external organizations visiting Wave Transit facilities. Wave Transit Customer Service Representatives maintain the front desk area, greet visitors, answer transit questions, and give directions. CSR staff must have open availability during hours of operation for transit buses, disasters, and emergency events.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answer telephones and direct calls appropriately
  • Greet passengers and all other individuals as they enter Wave Transit facilities
  • Deliver accurate fare information to passengers
  • Calculate simple math and cash transactions as required
  • Familiarity with the local area/region
  • Computer literacy and the ability to multi-task

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of one (1) year verifiable employment in customer relations
  • Successful Pre-employment background check and drug screen required

Job Type: Part-time

Paratransit Van Operator (part-time)

Job Description

CFPTA is currently seeking service-oriented, dedicated and compassionate part-time Paratransit operators to work with a population that is often over-looked and under-served. Paratransit operators provide customers with curb-to-curb transportation in a safe, courteous, and timely manner.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Drives one of several different vans in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner throughout the service area within a daily assigned time schedule.
  • Assists passengers to and from their origin/destination.
  • Assists in the boarding of passengers using wheelchairs or other mobility aids and the proper securement of wheelchairs.
  • Treats all passengers with respect providing courteous service at all times and in every situation. Advise passengers of rules and regulations when necessary.
  • Completes and submits daily paperwork including written reports concerning passenger incidents, preventable and non-preventable accidents.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must possess a valid North Carolina driver license.
  • Must be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug screen required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires bending, twisting, squatting, crouching and kneeling.
  • Requires sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Requires assisting passengers in wheelchairs and lifting passenger walkers, strollers, and other mobility aids, up to 20 lbs., as often as 20 times per day.

Diesel Mechanic (full-time)

Job Description

Perform quality preventive maintenance inspections on all vehicles and equipment assigned to the Wave Transit Fleet.

Responsibilities and Duties

Ensure vehicles operate in a safe, comfortable, like-new condition by performing highest quality maintenance repairs on all aspects of vehicle systems.

  • Assist in diagnoses and repairs to mechanical, electrical, HVAC, pneumatic, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and gas/diesel engines, with supervision and help as needed.
  • Assist on road calls, on-the-road repairs and road tests as needed.
  • Properly filling out work orders and signing out parts when used on vehicles.
  • Keep all company tools and equipment clean and in good working order.
  • Work well with all other departments, co-workers and supervisors.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner.
  • Performs shop cleanup at the end of shift.
  • Ability to learn and comprehend maintenance manuals, parts books, and electrical diagrams.
  • Must have own tools and tool box up to one inch
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Minimum one-year automotive or heavy-duty truck repair experience
  • General knowledge of cranking, charging, electrical, and hydraulic systems

Other skills and Abilities:

  • Be able to obtain a valid Class B North Carolina Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brake and Passenger endorsements
  • Maintain current DOT physical certification and good motor vehicle record
  • Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds
  • Ability to use both standard and metric tools required
  • Paint and body experience a plus.

Requirements

Most positions with Wave Transit or its contractors are classified as safety sensitive and are subject to all FTA requirements for safety sensitive positions including: pre-employment, random, post accident, reasonable suspicion and return to work drug and alcohol screening.
Fixed-route operators and maintenance personnel are required to have a valid Class B Commercial Driver License with a Passenger (P) endorsement issued by the state of North Carolina.
