Effective Monday December 6, 2021 through June 30, 2022 Wave Transit will be offering incentives to both new hires and current employees for the successful hiring and retention of full-time fixed route operators and maintenance staff.
Incentives will be awarded as follows:
$1,000 New Hire Incentive
o $250 after probationary period of 720 hours, approximately 3 months
o $250 after 6 months (probationary period plus 3 additional months)
o $500 after 12 months (probationary period plus 9 additional months)
New hires must be in good standing in order to receive incentives.
The mission of the Cape Fear Public Transportation Authority- Wave Transit is to develop and maintain an effective, efficient, and safe system of public transportation services within southeastern North Carolina which is responsive to the mobility needs of the community.
Transportation services provided shall be designed to maintain and encourage the use of public transportation and shall contribute to the economic vitality of the community, the conservation of natural resources and the protection of the environment.

Hard copy applications can be picked up at the information desk at Forden Station located at 505 Cando St. Wilmington, NC 28405. Resumes will not be accepted without an application. Most positions with Wave Transit or its contractors are classified as safety sensitive and are subject to all FTA requirements for safety sensitive positions including: pre-employment, random, post accident, reasonable suspicion and return to work drug and alcohol screening.
Fixed-route operators and maintenance personnel are required to have a valid Class B Commercial Driver License with a Passenger (P) endorsement issued by the state of North Carolina.
