Trolley FAQ

Where does the downtown trolley go?
The free trolley is an easy and convenient way to get around Wilmington’s historic downtown. It runs on a route bordered by Fourth and Nutt Streets to the East and West, and Davis and Ann streets to the North and South. The free trolley serves City and County parking decks, Thalian Hall, Cape Fear Community College,PPD, the Community Health Center and many shops and restaurants. Please refer to our route page for a complete map.

How do I get on?
The easiest way to catch the trolley is to look for our sidewalk medallions or signs.  If you can't find one, you can board the trolley at any intersection or by waving to the driver. For safety purposes, Wave Transit encourages passengers to board at intersections or at stops designated by a sidewalk medallion or sign, but with slower moving traffic, especially on Front Street, hailing the trolley is perfectly safe.

How much does it cost?
There is no charge to ride the trolley, and operators are prohibited from accepting gratuities.

How do I get off the free trolley?
Simply let the driver know where you’d like to get off the trolley. Disembarking at intersections is recommended.

When does free trolley service run?
The free trolley runs seven days a week, with the exception of the following holidays: New Year's Day; Martin Luther King, Jr. Day; Easter; Memorial Day; Independence Day; Labor Day; Thanksgiving; & Christmas. Service runs Monday – Friday from 7:00 am to 8:50 pm, on Saturdays from 10:30 am to 8:50 pm, and Sundays from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm.
