Board of Directors

The Foundation is governed by a three member board of directors appointed by the Cape Fear Public Transportation Authority. Board members are appointed for a two-year term and may serve up to three terms. The inaugurated board members are listed as follows:

William Bryden
Chairman

Bill Bryden was appointed to the Foundation as one of three inaugural members. He is retired from IBM and active in the community. Bill previously served as a board member of the Cape Fear Public Transportation Authority serving two terms as Chairman. Bill is a member of the Landfall Foundation, the Wilmington Railroad Museum Board of Directors and UNCW Adult Scholars.

Frankie Roberts
Vice Chairman

Frankie Roberts is the co-founder and Executive Director of Leading Into New Communities, Inc. (LINC), a nonprofit agency that provides shelter and services for men and women returning from prison. Frankie has served as chairman of the New Hanover County Department of Social Services Board of Commissioners and as a member of the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council Advisory Board, the Cancer Community Outreach Board and many other community organizations.

Laura Padgett
Secretary

Laura Padgett is currently serving her fourth four year term as a member of the Wilmington City Council. Laura has been an independent financial advisor, insurance agent and stock broker, specializing in Qualified Retirement Plans. She currently serves as Vice Chair of the National Multimodal Steering Committee and has held several roles on the boards of the National League of Cities and the North Carolina League of Municipalities.

Megan Matheny
Foundation Manager

Megan Matheny has been with the Cape Fear Public Transportation Authority since June of 2010. In 2011 she completed a year long apprenticeship program with the authority.  One of her apprenticeship projects was to implement the foundation.  Following her apprenticeship, Megan was hired permanently by the authority as Paratransit Manager.  Megan graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from UNCW. In 2006, Megan worked with an international nonprofit organization teaching grade school in Tanzania, East Africa and is an active volunteer in the local community.
